Semi Collision Blocks Pennyrile Parkway
Date of News Release: 04/02/2015
Nortonville, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police is currently investigating a two-vehicle, non-injury collision involving two tractor-trailer's on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway, northbound, just north of the Western Kentucky Parkway, in the construction zone. The collision occurred at approximately 9:55 a.m. this morning.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Sheravgan Muninov, 25, Brooklyn, NY, was operating a 2013 Freightliner tractor-trailer northbound on the Pennyrile Parkway. He was hauling consumable goods. Norris Brooks, 40, Madisonville, KY, was operating a 2006 Mack tractor-trailer hauling construction equipment. Mr. Brooks had exited the WKP westbound and was attempting to travel north on the Pennyrile Parkway.
It appears that Mr. Brooks failed to yield right of way and pulled into the path of Mr. Muninov. The tractor-trailers collided and exited the northbound shoulder of the roadway. Both vehicles struck an earth embankment and came to rest off the roadway. No injuries were reported.
The Pennyrile Parkway is currently blocked at this area as crews work to clear the scene.
Trooper Cody Kromer is investigating the collision. KSP CVE Officer John Sweeney, Hopkins County EMA, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet are assisting at the scene.
Detour is via the US 62 Nortonville Exit to US 41 Northward to return to the Parkway at the KY 813 Mortons Gap Exit or the Earlington KY 2171 Interchange.
