Fatal Collision on US 79

Guthrie, KY (Todd County) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single vehicle, fatality collision that occurred on US 79 (Russellville Road) in Guthrie, on Thursday, May 21, at 1:57 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Jerry T. Cisneros, 24, Allensville, KY, was operating a 2005 Mazda passenger car southbound on US 79 when a deer entered into his path of travel. The vehicle struck the deer. The deer came through the windshield and struck Mr. Cisneros. The vehicle continued southbound until it exited the roadway and came to rest.

The Todd County Coroner, Bob Whittlesey, pronounced Mr. Cisneros dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper Sean Wint is investigating the collision. Sergeant Tim Sales, the Guthrie Police Department, the Guthrie Fire Department, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, and the Todd County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
