KSP Detective Involved in Shooting, Suspect Arrested

(Tompkinsville, KY) - On Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at approx. 8:38 pm on W Phillipi Church Road in Tompkinsville, KY an incident occurred which led to a Kentucky State Police Post 15 Detective firing his issued weapon upon the suspect. The suspect fled the scene and his vehicle was located abandoned a short distance from where the incident originated.
It was received through the investigation that the suspect had went to a hospital in Macon County, TN to seek treatment for a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The subject was then transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he underwent further treatment for non-life threatening injuries. At 6:45 am on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 the suspect was released from the hospital where he was taken into custody by Nashville Metro Police and lodged in the Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility awaiting extradition for charges stemming from the incident in Monroe County, KY.
Erik Pitcock (27) of Mt. Hermon, KY is charged with Attempted Murder (Police Officer) and Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree.
The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Lt. Jamie Heller, Lt. Tim Adams, and Lt. Don Wilson of the Kentucky State Police. Any further information in reference to this case will be released when it becomes available.
