Fatal on KY 98 Brownsford Road in Allen County

(Scottsville, KY) - On Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at approx. 10:02 am the Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received a call of a two vehicle injury collision on KY 98 Brownsford Road approx. 10 miles east of Scottsville involving a tractor trailer hauling logs and a passenger car.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Norman Schlabach (32) of Auburn, KY was operating a tractor trailer hauling logs heading westbound on KY 98 when he failed to negotiate a turn and went into the eastbound lane where he collided with a 2005 Nissan being operated by Catalina Barreto Farias (33) of Fountain Run, where the tractor trailer then overturned.

Barreto Farias was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Allen County Coroner. Schlabach was not injured in the collision and refused transport by the Allen County EMS.

The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Master Trooper Lonnie Hodges where he was assisted by Master Trooper Terry Alexander, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Chris Dukes, Scottsville and Cedar Springs Fire Department, Allen County EMS, and the Allen County Coroner.
