KSP Troopers Involved In Louisville Shooting

(LOUISVILLE, KY.) - Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown is investigating a Trooper involved shooting that ocurred in St. Matthews last night. On February 9, 2015 at 11:12 PM EST, KSP Post 12 (Frankfort) Troopers Eddie Whitworth and Brian Miller were attempting to serve crimianal arrest warrants at an apartment complex located at 850 Washburn Ave. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office had secured the warrants earlier in the day for Cleveland Askew Jr. (35) of Simpsonville, Ky. The warrants for Wanton Endangerment 1st, Terroristic Threatening 3rd, and Animal Cruelty 2nd were the result of Mr. Askew's alleged actions earlier in the day in Shelby Co. Trooper Whitworth and Trooper Miller knocked on the door of the apartment and Mr. Askew opened the door and brandished a firearm. Tpr. Whitworth fired three shots striking Mr. Askew. The suspect was then taken by ambulance to the University Of Louisville Hospital where he is listed in Serious condition in ICU. The incident is still under investigation. KSP was assisted on the scene by the St. Mathews Police Dept.
