KSP Investigates Officer Involved Shooting

(Dry Ridge, KY) - At approximately 7:25 p.m., Ludlow Police Officer Sam Hodge was conducting a traffic stop on a maroon, 1994 GMC van operated by Charles Reynolds (61) of Ludlow. During the traffic stop gunfire was exchanged between the driver, Mr. Reynolds and Officer Hodge. Officer Hodge was struck in the shoulder and Charles Reynolds was struck in the chest. They were each transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment. Officer Hodge's condition is listed as stable. Charles Reynolds was pronounced deceased at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Officer Hodge has been with the Ludlow Police Department for one year, but has approximately 20 years law-enforcement experience.
Kentucky State Police Post 6 Detectives are conducting this investigation at the request of the Ludlow Police Department. Det. Jeremy Moore is the lead investigator.
KSP was assisted at the scene by Ludlow Police, Covington Police, Park Hills Police, Ludlow EMS and Ft. Wright EMS.
