KSP Investigates Shooting in Madison County

(Richmond, KY) - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is currently investigating an assault that sent one person to the hospital in Madison County. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 pm this afternoon in front of 100 Hager Drive in Richmond, KY.
The initial investigation indicates that Brian L. Ditsch, 52 years old, and James R. Pierson, 63 years old, both of Richmond, were engaged in an argument in front of 100 Hager Drive. It is alleged that James Pierson retrieved a handgun from his vehicle during the argument and shot Brian Ditsch. Ditsch was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
James R. Pierson was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree, and has been lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Ken Bradley. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Madison County Sheriff's Office, Richmond Police Department, and Madison County EMS.
