KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Lincoln County

(Crab Orchard, KY) - On Thursday, January 15, 2015, at approximately 9:30 p.m. EST, the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post received a report of a traffic collision involving a Stanford Police vehicle and a pedestrian on Highway 150, just west of Crab Orchard.

Travis Richardson, 33 years old of Crab Orchard, was traveling west on Highway 150 near Duval Lane, in his issued Stanford Police cruiser. Richardson is employed as a Stanford Police Officer and was traveling from Crab Orchard to Stanford to begin his shift. The initial investigation indicates that Howard R. Robbins, 69 years old of Crab Orchard, was walking along the roadway and was struck by Officer Richardson. Richardson immediately notified Bluegrass 911 of the collision and began administering first aid at the scene. Robbins was transported to Fort Logan hospital by Lincoln County EMS where he was pronounced deceased by the Lincoln County Coroner.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by Trooper Jeff Stith. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Stanford Police Department, Stanford EMS, Lincoln County Fire Department, and the Lincoln County Coroner.
