December Activity with January Checkpoint

(Morehead, KY) - Kentucky State Police at Post 8 Morehead announce the final traffic and criminal activity report for December 2014. During December Post 8 personnel issued 2,026 total citations. Of those citations, 16 were for DUI, 268 were for Speeding, 155 for No Seat Belt, and 17 for Child Restraint. In addition, there were 1,395 Vehicle Inspections and 249 Courtesy Notices issued. Post 8 also investigated 44 Traffic Collisions, of which one was a fatal collision in Wolfe County. Post 8 personnel also investigated 1,059 Complaints. A total of 71 Criminal Cases were opened and 283 Criminal Arrests were made for the month of December 2014.
During the year of 2014 Post 8 personnel issued 25,784 total citations. Of those citations 310 were for DUI, 3,741 were for Speeding, 2,173 for No Seat Belt, and 209 were for Child Restraint. In addition, there were 25,522 Vehicle Inspections and 3,763 Courtesy Notices Issued. Post 8 also investigated 664 Traffic Collisions and investigated 13,574 complaints. A total of 895 Criminal Cases were opened and 3,390 Criminal Arrest were made for the year.
Additionally, Captain Brian Bowling, Commander of the Kentucky State Police at Morehead, announces that Troopers of the Morehead Post will be conducting Safety Checkpoints in addition to Moving Patrols throughout the Post 8 area during the entire month of January as well the remainder of the year 2015. Motorists are urged to be cautious and obey reduced speeds through road constructions.
This concentrated enforcement effort will utilize Troopers and Detectives assigned to and working the Morehead post area. Members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) will also be utilized. They will focus on enforcing violations of Speeding, No Seat Belt, Child Restraint, Impaired Driving Laws, and Texting While Driving, as well as other violations of the Traffic Laws of Kentucky.
