One Killed in a Collision on Hardwicks Creek Road in Clay City

(Clay City, KY) - On Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 1:54 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 8, Morehead were notified of a single vehicle fatality traffic accident on Hardwicks Creek Road in Clay City. John D. Martin and passenger Patricia Adams, were traveling North on Hardwicks Creek Road in a 2004 Dodge Neon when the vehicle crossed the centerline, exited the left shoulder, and struck a tree before coming to rest on the southbound shoulder. John D. Martin, age 27 of Clay City, was pronounced deceased at the accident scene by Powell County Coroner Hondo Hearne. The passenger of the vehicle, Patricia Adams age 39 of Clay City, was airlifted from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY where she is listed in serious condition. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Joseph Zalone.
