KSP Investigates Pike County Shooting

(Phleps, Ky.) - The Kentucky State Police, Pikeville Post, is currently investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital.
The incident began during evening hours of Tuesday, July 07, 2015 when Troopers from Post 09 were requested by Pike County DSS to respond to a residence in the Phelps community of Pike County. As Troopers arrived on scene, they encountered multiple gunshots coming from inside the residence. A male exited the residence advising the Troopers that he had been shot. As Troopers approached the home, they were met by Ronald Wolford, 28 of Phelps, who dropped the firearm and was arrested without further incident. Wolford was charged with Assault 2nd Degree and lodged in Pike County Detention Center. The victim was taken to Pikeville Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Post 09 Detective Jason Merlo.
