Kentucky State Police Investigates an Officer Involved Shooting

**UPDATE**

Simpsonville, KY. (December 2, 2016) – Shelby County Deputy Corey Williams, age 24, of Shelbyville is the Deputy involved in the fatal shooting of Dylan M. Dalzell. Deputy Williams has work for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office since June 2015 and is a graduate of the Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) located in Richmond Kentucky.

Deputy Williams has been placed on paid administrative leave in accordance to the policy of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

The Simpsonville Baptist Church had previously reported a burglary to police on Thursday, December 1, 2016. As a result of the burglary, security personnel were posted at the church. On Friday December 2, 2016, at approximately 2:46 am, security personnel contacted Shelby County Dispatch to report that an additional burglary was taking place. Shelby County Deputies quickly arrived on scene. During a search of the property, one of the Deputies encountered a white male with a weapon in his hands. The deputy gave commands for the suspect to drop the weapon, but the suspect refused to comply. The suspect was shot and later pronounced deceased at the scene by the Shelby County Coroner.

**UPDATE**

Simpsonville, KY. (December 2, 2016) – Dylan M. Dalzell, age 22, of Shelbyville was pronounced deceased at the Simpsonville Baptist Church by the Shelby County Coroner after being fatally shot in an Officer related shooting. Dalzell was carrying a crowbar and refused multiple commands to drop the weapon while advancing in close proximity to the Deputy Sheriff involved in the shooting.

Post 12 investigators have also arrested 3 additional suspects that were acting as lookouts and are suspected of being involved in the string of burglaries at the church. The suspects are as follows:

Courtney L. Eggen, age 27, of Shelbyville. Courtney has been charged with Burglary 1st Degree.

Steven A. Mathus, age 29, of Shelbyville. Steven has been charged with Burglary 1st Degree and Receiving Stolen Property Under $500.00

Chastity R. Heitzman, age 27, of Shelbyville. Chastity has been charged with Burglary 1st Degree and Receiving Stolen Property Under $500.00

Other charges are pending before the Grand Jury.

Simpsonville, KY. (December 2, 2016) – On Friday December 2, Deputies from Shelby County were involved in an Officer related shooting occurring at the Simpsonville Baptist Church in Shelby County.

A white male subject was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Shelby County Coroner. At this time the name is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The Simpsonville Baptist Church had previously reported a burglary to police on Thursday, December 1, 2016. As a result of the burglary, security personnel were posted at the church. On Friday December 2, 2016, at approximately 2:46 am, security personnel contacted Shelby County Dispatch to report that an additional burglary was taking place. The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police. The Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Shelby County Coroner, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Simpsonville Police Department.
