Asplundh Employee Electrocuted in Breathitt County

(Whick, KY) - An employee with Asplundh Tree Expert Company died yesterday morning after being electrocuted while trimming a tree in Breathitt County. Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call at around 9:40 a.m., advising of the incident in the Whick community. Troopers responded to the scene along with Arrowmed Ambulance, Wolfcoal Fire Department, Jackson Fire Department, and American Electric Power.

Upon arrival, investigators located the victim, 23 year old Justin Miller of Lost Creek Road in Perry County, still in the tree. According to witnesses at the scene, Miller was cutting tree limbs when he somehow made contact with a power line. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Breathitt County Coroner George Griffith.

An autopsy will be performed on the victim by the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort. This incident remains under investigation by Detective Jeff Browning with KSP Post 13.
