(Scuddy, KY) - An armed robbery at a Perry County business late Saturday night landed five people in jail, and left one man critically injured. At around 11:54 p.m., Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard responded to Mike's Game Room on South Kentucky Highway 15 in Scuddy, after a female called Perry County 911 advising that her husband had been assaulted. Perry County EMS also responded to the scene.
Troopers determined that three men and two women had come to Mike's Game Room, which was closed. Two of the subjects knocked on the door, which was answered by a security guard, Otis Combs. When Combs opened the door he was struck in the head by a male subject, later identified as Cody Miller. Miller, Jeremy Coots, Valeria Noble, and Steven Morris entered the building. Otis Combs and his wife Vicki Combs were continually assaulted, while Shannon Engle and Betty Sue Ritchie, who were in the game room, were held at gunpoint while money and personal belongings were taken from them.
All of the accused left the scene in a Chrysler 300 being driven by Derika Morris. Troopers later located this car and arrested Steven and Derika Morris. Further investigation led to the arrest of Jeremy Coots, Cody Miller and Valeria Noble. All were lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail, charged with Assault 1st Degree and Robbery 1st Degree.
Otis Combs was airlifted to Pikeville Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition. Detective Brandon Thomas with KSP Post 13 is leading this investigation.
