Green County man charged with Assault 1st

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (August 4, 2016) - 24-year-old Steven D. Hewitt, of Greensburg, was arrested today at 3:08 EDT at a residence in the Indian Trail Trailer Park in the city limits of Campbellsville. A warrant for Assault 1st degree was executed by the Kentucky State Police Special Response Team.
Taylor County Hospital contacted the Campbellsville 911 center at approximately 3:50 PM EDT on Wednesday, August 3rd, reporting that a female was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. The Taylor County Sheriff's Department responded and secured the Assault 1st warrant as a result of the investigation. The suspect was also believed to be involved in a kidnapping that was reported to the Campbellsville Police Department today at 6:30 AM EDT.
Through a collaborative effort and sharing of resources, the Campbellsville Police Department, Taylor County Sheriff's Department and the Kentucky State Police were able to ascertain the location of the suspect. Non-lethal chemical munitions were introduced into the residence causing all of the occupants, including the suspect, to exit the dwelling. Hewitt was taken into custody without incident and no one was injured.
The Campbellsville Police Department and Taylor County Sheriff's Department are still investigating. Hewitt will be lodged in the Taylor County Jail.
