Kuttawa, Ky. (September 8, 2016) On September 7, 2016, at 11:57 p.m., Kentucky State Police post 1 Mayfield received a 911 call regarding a two vehicle collision involving a motorcycle at the 34 mile marker near Kuttawa, KY.
Preliminary investigation shows that Nikita D. Davis, 30, of Paducah, KY was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix westbound on Interstate 24 near the 34 mile marker. David A. Crabtree, 28, of Old Hickory. Tennessee was driving a 1984 Honda F70 eastbound on Interstate 24 near the 34 mile marker.
For an unknown reason Davis swerved left and then overcorrected, causing her vehicle to travel through the median, crossing into the eastbound lanes and into the path of Crabtree. Both vehicles collided causing Crabtree to be ejected from the motorcycle. Davis's vehicle then overturned and came to a stop on the shoulder of the eastbound lane. Davis and her two passengers, Chantel L. Merriel, 21, of Paducah, KY and a 3 year old juvenile, were transported to Lourdes hospital in Paducah, KY with non-life threatening injuries. Crabtree was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lyon County Coroner, Ronnie Patton.
Trooper Gerick Sullivan is continuing the collision and the death investigation. Trooper Jody Cash is conducting the collision reconstruction.
KSP was assisted on scene by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Kuttawa Fire Department, Lyon County Rescue, Lyon County EMS, and the Lyon County Coroner.
