Single Vehicle Injury Collision on US 60 East

Marion, KY (Crittenden County) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single-vehicle, injury-collision that occurred on US 60 East, approximately seven miles north of Marion, on Thursday, March 3, at 11:01 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Angela R. Maples, 41, Marion, was operating a 1997 Mercury Tracer westbound on US 60 East when she lost control of the vehicle in a curve on the wet roadway. It traveled across the eastbound lane and exited the roadway. The vehicle traveled down an earthen embankment and struck a tree, before coming to rest off the roadway.

Ms. Maples was not injured. The front passenger, Valina Yates, 40, Marion, was transported via ambulance to Crittenden Health Systems for treatment. The rear passenger, Ms. Yates daughter, Myra Yates, 3, was not injured. Both adults were wearing seatbelts. The child was restrained in a child safety seat.

Trooper Ben Sawyer is investigating the collision. The Mattoon Community Volunteer Fire Department, Crittenden County EMS, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
