Fatal on US 31-E Involving an SUV vs Tractor Trailer

(Scottsville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to a two vehicle injury collision today at approx. 4:12 pm on US 31-E just north of the KY 100 intersection in the limits of Scottsville in Allen County that involved an SUV and a tractor trailer that resulted in the death of one person.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Daniel Lunsford (37) of Scottsville was operating a 2002 Chevrolet SUV and was traveling southbound on US 31-E when for an undetermined reason crossed into the northbound lane of travel. Bruce Gregory (49) of Westmoreland, TN was operating a 1999 Freightliner tractor trailer and was traveling northbound when he tried to avoid the collision by pulling to the right side of the roadway but was struck in the driver's side rear axles by the front of the SUV.

Mr. Lunsford was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen County Coroner's Office. Mr. Gregory was not injured in the collision.

The investigation is still ongoing and being conducted by Trooper Shae Foley. He was assisted on scene by Sergeant Jeremy Smith, Detective Adam Morgan, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Roy Murley, Allen County Sheriff's Department, Scottsville Police Department, Allen County Coroner's Office, Allen County Rescue Squad, Scottsville Fire Department, and the Allen County EMS. No other details are available for release at this time.
