Fleming County Assault Arrest

(Flemingsburg, KY) - On Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 9:05 p.m., Kentucky State Police in Morehead was contacted by Fleming County dispatch in reference to an assault. Kentucky State Police, the Fleming County Sheriff's Department and Fleming County EMS responded to 1112 Wolf Run in Flemingsburg. Matthew Werthwine 37 of Flemingsburg, was involved in an altercation with his step-father, Kenneth Price 70 of Flemingsburg. During the altercation Price was punched and then stabbed twice in the abdomen. Werthwine then fled the scene in his vehicle, ultimately wrecking on Wolf Run road. Werthwine was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree Domestic Violence, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Degree, Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance, Failure to Produce Insurance Card, and Leaving The Scene of an Accident. Mr. Werthwine was lodged in the Mason County Detention Center. Mr. Price was transported to St. Claire Regional Medical Hospital where he was treated and later released for his injuries. The incident remains under investigation by Trooper Jared Wagner.
