KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Magoffin County

SALYERSVILLE, KY (October 02, 2016) Kentucky State Police, Pikeville Post, is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Magoffin County during the afternoon hours of Sunday, October 02, 2016.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Ellis Roark was traveling West on KY Route 114 in the Salyersville community of Magoffin County. Roark lost control of his 2003 Ford Ranger and struck a rock embankment. Leah Roark Groce, 53 of Salyersville, was a passenger in Ellis Roark's vehicle. Groce suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by Magoffin County Coroner Mark Jenkins.
Evidence at the scene indicates Groce was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Post 09 Accident Reconstructionist, Trooper Jonathan Dixon.
