Kentucky State Police Post 14 Ashland Investigating Fatal House Fire

Ashland, KY(March 23, 2017) – The Kentucky State Police Post 14 Ashland is investigating a house fire which resulted in a fatality. On Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1258 a.m. Carter County 911 contacted Post 14 and requested assistance with a residential house fire at 321 Patchwork Lane in Grayson, KY.
Detectives responded to the scene and determined one person had died as a result of the fire. The deceased is believed to be a 91 year of age female, but positive identification has not been made at this time. A family member had responded to the residence after receiving a call from the homeowner advising she needed help due to the couch being on fire. Upon arrival the family member was unable to provide any assistance due to the fire.
At this time the investigation is ongoing, but foul play is not suspected.
Multiple agencies responded including: Olive Hill Fire Department, Grayson Fire Department, Carter County EMS and the Carter County Coroner’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation by Detectives Daniel Cook and Jason Greene.
