Owensboro Man Arrested on Drug Charges After Pursuit
Trooper’s Cruiser Sustained Minimal Damage

OWENSBORO, KY (March 1, 2017)--Kentucky State Police Trooper Josh Turner was patrolling New Hartford Road in Owensboro when he observed a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo speeding in the 45 miles per hour zone. Trooper Turner attempted to stop the violator but the vehicle accelerated from the trooper in attempts to flee. The violator turned onto Burlew Boulevard where he was traveling in the opposing lane. The operator then made a turn onto a dead end street where he fled his vehicle but left it in reverse. His 2002 Monte Carlo rolled backwards striking the front of Trooper Turner’s 2013 Dodge Charger.

Trooper Turner gave chase and caught up to the fleeing violator and gave him verbal commands. The violator, identified as Oval I. Baize, 25 of Owensboro, KY, then turned in an aggressive stance and failed to comply with the troopers commands. Trooper Turner utilized his Taser where he then gained compliance and effected the arrest.

Mr. Baize was charged with the following offenses:

    1) Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
    2) Possession of Synthetic Drug 1st Degree, 1st Offense
    3) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
    4) Driving Under the Influence, 1st Offense
    5) Reckless Driving
    6) Fleeing/Evading 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
    7) Fleeing/Evading 2nd Degree (On Foot)
    8) Careless Driving
    9) Speeding
    10) License to be in Possession
    11) Criminal Mischief 1st Degree

Mr. Baize also had two bench warrants for his arrest which he was served. He is being held at the Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro.
