National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is April 2-8
Date of News Release: 04/06/2017
(April 6, 2017) – Every April, the Office for Victims of Crime lead communities throughout the country in their annual observances of National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW), which will be observed on April 2–8, 2017. This year’s theme, “Strength. Resilience. Justice.” This reflects a vision for the future in which all victims are strengthened by the response they receive, organizations are resilient in response to challenges, and communities are able to seek collective justice and healing.
Kentucky State Police Post 16 would like to take this opportunity to highlight two cases that our post are investigating and currently go unsolved. Feel free to share and use as needed.
CASE #1-BLAKE CREWS MURDER: Henderson County native Blake Crews was murdered on January 17, 2015. To this day, investigators have not made an arrest directly related to the murder of Crews.
In an effort to enhance and elicit new leads, KSP has developed a short YouTube video that was released in August of 2016. The video highlighted the main points of the open investigation.
CASE #2-HEATHER TEAGUE KIDDNAPPING: On August 26, 1995, a witness observed Heather Teague being kidnapped at gun point while was sunbathing on Newburgh Beach in rural Henderson County. A suspect was later identified but committed suicide shortly after the abduction. Teague has not been seen since, nor has her body ever been located.
Heather was 23 years old when she was kidnapped. Today, she would be in her mid-40’s.
