One Injured in Two Vehicle Collision in McLean County

Ky. (September 17, 2017)--Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle collision in the 3300 block of KY 815, just outside the community of Calhoun. Troopers were able to determine that 13 year old Kevin Mauro from Owensboro was operating his moped on KY 815. Mauro, who was traveling south bound, attempted to turn left into a driveway on HWY 815.

A Chevrolet Equinox operated by 41 year old William Mullen of Utica was traveling north bound on KY 815. According to a witness, Mauro attempted to turn into the driveway and into the path of Mullen. Mullen attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful.

Mullen struck Mauro with the front passenger side of his vehicle. Mauro was ejected from the moped sustaining severe injury. Mauro was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville via PHI medical helicopter. Mullen was not injured.

Kentucky State Police troopers were assisted on the scene by Mclean County EMS, Fire, and PHI Air Medical.
