Kentucky State Police Arrest Man for DUI, Assault and Wanton Endangerment

GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. (July 30, 2017) – Kentucky State Police have arrested a Paducah man following the hospitalization of a five year old. On Friday afternoon at approximately 9:00 p.m., KSP Trooper Eric West responded to Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah for a report of an injured child. Upon his arrival, Trooper West located the child, who was being treated for non-life threatening injuries he had received during a horse riding incident. The five year old was later flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee for the treatment of those injuries.

Preliminary investigation has shown Keith R. Gorham had been intoxicated while riding a horse near Kenbar Inn in Gilbertsville earlier in the afternoon. Gorham had given horse rides to three children, ages 5, 2, and 2, while he was intoxicated. During one horse ride, the five year old was thrown from the horse and received significant injuries. The five year old was transported by Marshall County EMS to Baptist Health.

Keith R. Gorham, age 54, of Paducah, Kentucky was taken into custody shortly thereafter and was charged with DUI (non-motor vehicle), Second Degree Assault, and two counts of First Degree Wanton Endangerment. He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail
