KSP Madisonville Post Welcomes a New Trooper

Madisonville, KY.(August 14, 2017) – The Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville would like to welcome a new trooper to their ranks. A total of 41 new troopers graduated from the Kentucky State Police Academy in Frankfort on Friday, August 11, 2017. Their addition to the force brings the agency’s strength to a total of 866 troopers serving the citizens of the Commonwealth.

Trooper Hunter Carroll was part of the agency’s fourth Law Enforcement Accelerated Program (LEAP), a condensed course for current police officers who have at least two years of Kentucky Police Officer Professional Standards (POPS) law enforcement experience. They started the 11-week training cycle on May 21, 2017 in a class that consisted of 63 cadets. Twenty two resigned during the weeks of constant mental and physical challenges that followed.

Trooper Hunter Carrol is a 26-year-old native of Hopkinsville, KY. He is a 2013 graduate of Austin Peay State University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to joining the KSP, he worked for the Christian County Sheriff Department.

Trooper Carroll will undergo an extensive field-training period with experienced troopers for approximately 6 weeks. After the field-training period, he will be assigned a primary county for patrol.

They can also download the free KSP mobile phone app. The app provides quick, direct access to KSP including weather, road and traffic information as well as text, voice and photo tip capabilities to report criminal behavior. The app is available for iPhone, iPad and Android applications and can be easily downloaded free of charge through Apple and Google Play stores.
