Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Carjacking Suspect

Campbellsburg, KY (January 12, 2017) – The Kentucky State Police at Post 5 Campbellsburg is investigating a pursuit that ended in the arrest of a carjacking suspect.
At approximately 8:28 am Thursday January 12, 2017, a Kentucky State Police Trooper with Post 5 observed a silver Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed south on I-71 at the 42 mile marker. The Trooper attempted to stop the vehicle which continued south fleeing at a high rate of speed.
The suspect exited at the 28 mile marker on I-71 then immediately reentered the interstate. At the 27 mile marker the suspect crossed all south and northbound lanes of traffic before running into a ditch. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended after a brief struggle.
The suspect was identified as Justin Bowlin, 35, of LaGrange, KY. It was discovered after the arrest that Bowlin was the suspect in a carjacking in Independence, KY and the vehicle being operated was the vehicle allegedly stolen.
Bowlin was charged with; speeding, fleeing or evading police 1st degree (motor vehicle), fleeing or evading police 2nd degree (on foot), criminal mischief 2nd degree, reckless driving, improper passing, following another vehicle too closely, operating on suspended license, wanton endangerment 1st police officer, receiving stolen property, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, and resisting arrest.
Bowlin was lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center and the investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 5 Campbellsburg.
