Attempted Murder in Henry County

Pendleton, KY (March 6, 2017) – The Kentucky State Police at Post 5 Campbellsburg is investigating a shooting in Henry County.

At approximately 8:00 pm Sunday February 26, 2017, Kentucky State Police Dispatchers received a call from LaGrange Police Department of a person being shot at on L’Esprit Parkway in Henry County.

Preliminary investigation revealed Jose Cruz, 49 of LaGrange, traveled to L’Esprit Parkway to meet an unknown individual who called his phone asking for help with a vehicle. When Cruz arrived on L’Esprit Parkway two individuals exited a vehicle parked on the shoulder and one began shooting at Cruz and his vehicle.

Through the investigation it was determined Marvin Abrego, 35 of LaGrange, allegedly shot at Cruz’s vehicle. It was also found that Jose Israel-Prado Garcia, 41 of Sulphur, was allegedly the second individual with Abrego.

Warrants were obtained by Kentucky State Police for Abrego and Garcia. Garcia was arrested and charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Abrego has not been located at this time. Garcia was lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police who are searching for Marvin Abrego. Abrego is wanted for the offense of attempted murder and should be considered armed and dangerous. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair. Abrego may be traveling in a red 1998 Dodge Dakota Pickup license number 790-VVM.
