KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Bourbon County

Paris, Ky. (September 9th, 2017) - Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision between three SUV’s on Peacock Rd in Bourbon County.
The collision occurred at approximately 6:22 pm on Peacock Rd and was called into Paris Dispatch. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Black Ford Escape operated by Mr. William Tipton Jr. (39) of Paris was traveling North on Peacock Rd and was not wearing his seatbelt. Mr. Tipton collided head on with a 2012 Black Chevrolet Suburban, operated by Ms. Rebecca Christel (25), of Carle Place, NY. A 2012 Gray Hyundai Sonata operated by Mr. George Kiser (27), of Paris, KY then collided into the rear end of Ms. Christel. After the collision, Mr. Tipton’s vehicle overturned twice before coming to final rest.
Mr. Tipton was pronounced deceased on scene by the Bourbon County Deputy Coroner. Toxicology is pending to determine whether drugs were a factor.
Ms. Christel was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted by mechanical means from the Bourbon County and Paris Fire Department. Ms. Christel was then transported to the hospital for minor injuries by Paris EMS.
Mr. Kiser did not require any medical attention.
Kentucky State Police were assisted on scene by Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office, Bourbon County Fire Department, Paris Fire & EMS and Bourbon County Coroner’s Office.
The collision remains under investigation by Collision Reconstructionist, Trooper Charles Wagner.
