KSP Investigates Fatal Collisions in Pike County

PHYLLIS, KY(February 09, 2017) Kentucky State Police, Pikeville Post, is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Pike County.

The collision occurred during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, February 08, 2017. The preliminary investigation indicated that Timothy Patrick was traveling westbound on Grapevine Road in the Phyllis community of Pike County. Patrick lost control of his 2014 Chevrolet pickup, crossing into the oncoming lane and colliding with a 1994 Chevrolet pickup operated by William Griffey. Griffey, 66 of Fedscreek, KY, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner, Russell Roberts.

Evidence at the scene indicated Griffey was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

The collision remains under investigation by Post 9 Collision Reconstructionist, Detective Jason Merlo.
