Through February 25, 2013, preliminary statistics* indicate that 746 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2012. This twenty-six (25) more than was reported for the same time period in 2011. In the Post One there has been fifty (50) motor vehicle fatalities and twenty-five (25) victims were not wearing seat belts and nineteen (19) victims were wearing a seat belts and six (6) victims seatbelt was unknown. Nine (9) crashes involved a motorcycle and two (2) victims were not wearing a helmet and seven (7) victims were wearing a helmet. Two (2) crashes involved an ATV and neither of the victims were not wearing a helmet. Three (3) crashes involved a pedestrian. Twenty-two (22) deaths have resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol.
