Through October 15, 2017, preliminary statistics* indicate that five hundred ninty-one (591) people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2017. There are fifty-seven (57) less than that was reported for the same time period in 2016.
Through October 15, 2017, there have been one hundered thirty-six (136) persons killed in the Post 4 District: fourty-six (46) victims were not wearing a seatbelt, thirty-three (33) victims were wearing a seatbelt, sixteen (16) victims seatbelt were unknown and three (3) victims child restraints were used, one (1) victims were not wearing a helmet (motorcycle), nine (9) victim was wearing a helmet (motorcycle), zero (0) victim helmet was unknown (motorcycle), three (3) was a bicyclist and twenty-three (23) victims were pedestrians. Twenty-one (21) fatality crashes involved the suspected use of alcohol.
