Through December 10, 2017, preliminary statistics* indicate that seven hundred ten (710) people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2017. There are seventy-eight (78) less than that was reported for the same time period in 2016.
Through December 10, 2017, there have been one hundered fifty-nine (159) persons killed in the Post 4 District: fifty-one (51) victims were not wearing a seatbelt, fourty-three (43) victims were wearing a seatbelt, sixteen (16) victims seatbelt were unknown and four (4) victims child restraints were used, two (2) victims were not wearing a helmet (motorcycle), ten (10) victim was wearing a helmet (motorcycle), zero (0) victim helmet was unknown (motorcycle), three (3) was a bicyclist and twenty-eight (28) victims were pedestrians. Twenty-four (24) fatality crashes involved the suspected use of alcohol.
