Through February 25, 2013, preliminary statistics* indicate that 746 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2012. This twenty-six (25) more than was reported for the same time period in 2011. In the Post Seven there has been thirty-four (34) motor vehicle fatalities and eighteen (18) victims were not wearing a seat belt and nine (9) victims were wearing seat belt, and seven (7) victims seat belt was unknown. Four (4) crashes involved a motorcycle and three (3) victims were not wearing a helmet and one (1) victim helmet is unknown. Four (4) crashes involved a pedestrian. Five (5) deaths has resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol.
