Through January 21, 2014, preliminary statistics* indicate that 638 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2013. This one hundred and eight (108) less than was reported for the same time period in 2012.
In the Post Seven there has been thirty-seven (37) motor vehicle fatalities and fourteen (14) victims were not wearing a seat belt and eighteen (18) victims were wearing seat belt and five (5) victims seat belt was unknown. Two (2) crashes involved a motorcycle and neither victim was wearing a helmet. Three (3) crashes involved a pedestrian. Five (5) deaths has resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol.
