Kentucky State Police Promotes 42 Officers

(Frankfort, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police announced the promotion of 42 officers throughout the state at a special ceremony held today at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort. One KSP lieutenant colonel, one major, three captains, seven lieutenants and 16 sergeants were commissioned along with two Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) captains, five lieutenants and seven sergeants.

KSP Major Jack Miniard was promoted to lieutenant colonel and transferred from command of the Administrative Division, Operational Support Troop to command of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. A native and resident of Harlan, Miniard is a 20-year KSP veteran.

KSP Capt. John C. Blanton was promoted to major and transferred from command of Post 8 in Morehead to command of the Administrative Division, Operational Support Troop. A resident and native of Salyersville, Blanton is a 20-year KSP veteran.

KSP Lt. Merrell Harrison was promoted to captain and transferred from KSP Post 8 in Morehead to Post 14 in Ashland as commander. A resident of Mt. Sterling and a native of Harlan, Harrison is a 19-year KSP veteran.

KSP Lt. Chad White was promoted to captain and transferred from KSP Post 5 in Campbellsburg to the Internal Affairs Branch in Frankfort. A resident of New Castle and a native of Shelbyville, White is a 12-year KSP veteran.

KSP Lt. Frederick A. Williams, Jr. was promoted to captain and transferred from KSP Post 12 in Frankfort to the Driver Testing Branch as commander. A resident of Lawrenceburg and a native of Louisville, Williams is a 13-year KSP veteran.

KSP Sgt. Kenneth K. Bowman was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from Post 8 in Morehead to Post 2 in Madisonville. A native and resident of Ezel, Bowman is an 11-year KSP veteran.

KSP Sgt. Gregory Crockett was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from Post 7 in Richmond to the Criminal Identification and Records Branch in Frankfort. A native of Somerset and a resident of Lexington, Crockett is a 14-year KSP veteran.

KSP Sgt. Matt Feltner was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from Post 7 in Richmond to the Legal Services Branch in Frankfort. A native of Hyden and a resident of London, Feltner is a 12-year KSP veteran.>

KSP Sgt. Joseph Gibson was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from Post 14 in Ashland to Post 16 in Henderson. A native of Elizabethtown and a resident of Ashland, Gibson is a 16-year KSP veteran.

KSP Sgt. Jonathan Grant was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from the Driver Testing Branch to Post 1 in Mayfield. A native of Beaver Dam and a resident of Mayfield, Grant is a 17-year KSP veteran.

KSP Sgt. David Millay was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from the West Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations Branch in Bowling Green to the Supply Branch in Frankfort. A resident of Elizabethtown and a native of Louisville, Millay is a 15-year KSP veteran.

KSP Sgt. Brooks Young was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to Post 16 in Henderson. A resident of Henderson, Young is a 14-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Bruce Button was promoted to sergeant and transferred from the Special Operations Branch, Special Response Team to the Criminal Identification and Records Branch in Frankfort. A resident of Shelbyville and a native of Crestwood, Button is a 10-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Chad Carroll was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to the Executive Security Branch in Frankfort. A resident of Richmond and a native of Madisonville, Carroll is a 16-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Jackie Carver was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to Post 16 in Henderson. A resident of Sturgis and a native of Henderson, Carver is a nine-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. James Goble was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to Post 14 in Ashland. A resident of Grayson and a native of Inez, Goble is a six-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Todd Harwood was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to Post 5 in Campbellsburg. A resident of LaGrange and a native of Louisville, Harwood is a 14-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Dustin Hon was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to Post 7 in Richmond. A resident of Berea and a native of Mt. Sterling, Hon is an 18-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Jeremy S. Johnson was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to Post 15 in Columbia. A resident and native of Somerset, Johnson is an eight-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Matthew Johnson was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to Post 4 in Elizabethtown. A resident of Elizabethtown and a native of Louisville, Johnson is a nine-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Erik Kouns was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to Post 14 in Ashland. A resident and native of Grayson, Kouns is a seven-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Jeffrey Lewis was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to Post 8 in Morehead. A resident and native of South Shore, Ky., Lewis is an 11-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Timothy Mullins was promoted to sergeant and transferred from Post 13 in Hazard to the Criminal Identification and Records Branch in Frankfort. A resident of Sassafras and a native of Hindman, Mullins is a 19-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Jennifer Sandlin was promoted to sergeant and transferred from Post 13 in Hazard to Post 9 in Pikeville. A resident and native of Hazard, Sandlin is a seven-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Fred Scoggins was promoted to sergeant and transferred from Post 6 in Dry Ridge to Post 5 in Campbellsburg. A resident of Owenton and a native of Dry Ridge, Scroggins is a 16-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Christopher Steward was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to Post 6 in Dry Ridge. A resident of Independence, Ky. and a native of Burlington, Ky., Steward is a 10-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Randal Surber was promoted to sergeant and transferred from Post 13 in Hazard to Post 4 in Elizabethtown. A resident and native of Partridge, Ky., Surber is a seven-year KSP veteran.

Tpr. Craig Sutton was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to the Technical Services Division as director of the Trooper Island Camp. A resident of East Bernstadt and a native of London, Sutton is a 24-year KSP veteran.

Promotions for the KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVE) included:

CVE Lt. Kevin Henry was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to CVE Region 6 in Pikeville. A resident of Minnie and a native of Pikeville, Henry is a 12-year CVE veteran.

CVE Lt. Daniel Pearman was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to CVE Region 2 in Louisville. A resident and native of Hodgenville, Pearman is a 22-year CVE veteran.

CVE Sgt. Jonathan Blevins was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to CVE Region 3 in Georgetown. A native of West Liberty and a resident of Frankfort, Blevins is an 11-year CVE veteran.

CVE Sgt. James Collins was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from CVE Region 6 in Pikeville to Region 5 in Morehead. A native of Paintsville and a resident of Hagerhill, Collins is a nine-year CVE veteran.

CVE Sgt. Joseph Conn was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to CVE Region 2 in Louisville. A native of Elizabethtown and a resident of Columbia, Conn is a 10-year CVE veteran.

CVE Sgt. Shawn Hines was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from CVE Region 5 in Morehead to Region 4 in London. A native of McKinney, Ky. and a resident of Science Hill, Hines is a nine-year CVE veteran.

CVE Sgt. Darrin Patterson was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from CVE Region 1 in Henderson to Region 2 in Louisville. A resident of Bowling Green, Patterson is a 20-year CVE veteran.

CVE Officer Kelly Anderson was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to CVE Region 2 in Louisville. A resident of Bowling Green, Anderson is a nine-year CVE veteran.

CVE Officer Keith Justice was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to CVE Region 6 in Pikeville. A resident and native of Pikeville, Justice is a nine-year CVE veteran.

CVE Officer John Kearns, Jr. was promoted to sergeant and transferred from CVE Region 2 in Louisville to Region 5 in Morehead. A resident of Louisville, Kearns is a 10-year CVE veteran.

CVE Officer Michael Simpson was promoted to sergeant and transferred from CVE Region 3 in Georgetown to Region 5 in Morehead. A resident of Richmond and a native of Brodhead, Simpson is a six-year CVE veteran.

CVE Officer Oria Smith was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to CVE Region 6 in Pikeville. A resident of Wooton and a native of Hyden, Smith is a nine-year CVE veteran.

CVE Officer Tristan Truesdell was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to the Program Support Branch. A resident of Frankfort and a native of Maysville, Truesdell is a 13-year CVE veteran.

CVE Officer Pete Wilson was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to CVE Region 3 in Georgetown. A resident of Bellevue, Ky. and a native of Jeffersonville, Ind., Wilson is a 12-year CVE veteran.
