KSP Lieutenant Receives High Honors from Southern Police Institute

Date of News Release: 05/16/2011

(Frankfort, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police (KSP) Lieutenant Jeremy V. Thompson was among 40 graduates who completed the twelve-week Administrative Officers Course at the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute (SPI). The course curriculum is designed to develop informed, effective, ethically and technically competent law enforcement managers who are capable of assuming positions of leadership in their respective agencies.

Thompson was selected as Class Valedictorian which is the highest honor achievable in a SPI graduating class. He also held the position of Class President for his graduating class. The last four officers that KSP has sent to SPI have all received Class Valedictorian honors.

"It is a tremendous academic and networking experience for police supervisors. Academically, this was the most challenging process I've ever experienced," says Thompson.

Thompson is a thirteen year veteran of KSP where he is currently assigned to the Madisonville Post as the Investigations Supervisor. He is the son of Joe Thompson and Christina Thompson, both of Louisville. Lt. Thompson resides in Hardin County with his wife Karen and two children, Tyler and Lauren.
