KSP Trooper Involved in Fatal Collision

(Glasgow, KY) -- At approximately 3:47 CST this evening, Trooper Jonathan Biven was travelling South on US 31 W, North of Park City when the state police cruiser he was operating crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a 2003 Ford Mustang. A female driver of the Mustang was flown from the scene to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown where she was pronounced deceased as a result of her injuries. The second occupant of the Mustang was treated at the scene and was not transported to a hospital. Trooper Biven was transported to TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained in the collision.

The female driver of the 2003 Ford Mustang involved in the collision has been identified as Nurcan Ceylan, 33 years old, of Riverside, NJ. The passenger in the Mustang has been identified as Samuel H. Parker, 54 of Willingboro, NJ. Both Mr. Parker and Ms. Ceylan have recently been residing in Greensburg, KY. Both occupants of the Mustang as well as Trooper Biven were all wearing their seatbelt. Alcohol and drug involvement are not suspected as factors in this collision.

The collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Reconstructionists. Assisting at the scene was Park City Volunteer Fire Department and the Barren County Sheriff's Office.
