Injury Crash on I-75 Rockcastle County
Date of News Release: 04/20/2012
(Mount Vernon, KY) -- On Friday April 20th 2012 around 4 A.M officer Jerry Jones with Kentucky State Police-Vehicle Enforcement responded to a serious injury accident located on I-75 south near the 62 mile marker in Rockcastle County Kentucky.
Upon arrival and through investigation officer Jones determined that 43 year old Conley Thompson of Tyner Kentucky was operating a white 2007 Volvo tractor trailer when he struck a blue 1999 Volts Wagon Beetle operated by 62 year old Curtis Harris of Louisville.
Harris was taken from the scene to Mount Vernon Hospital and later air lifted to the University Of Kentucky Medical Center for non life threatening injuries. Thompson was taken to Mount Vernon hospitals were he was treated and released. Drugs and alcohol is not suspected and both parties were wearing seat belts at the time of collision.
South Bound Lanes of travel was closed for several hours while clean crews worked to clean debris and fuel from a ruptured fuel tank.
Assisting on scene: Vehicle Enforcement Ofc. Dennis Jackson, Ofc. Robert Mitchell, and Ofc. David Burton. Kentucky State Trooper Don Trosper, Mount Vernon Police, Mount Vernon Fire Department, Rockcastle EMS, Kentucky State EPA and KY Highway Department. Officer Jerry Jones continues the investigation.
