Trooper Island TV raffle at World Chicken Festival in London

(Albany, Ky.) -- Congratulations to Bill Johnson of Glasgow, Kentucky on being the winner of the Sanyo 50" HD Plasma TV which was raffled off during the 20th Annual World Chicken Festival in London, Kentucky held September 24th - 27th. The TV was donated by Wal-Mart district 438 which includes Wal-Mart in Somerset, Monticello, Lawrenceburg, Harrodsburg, Bardstown, Danville, Stanford, Columbia, Campbellsville, Glasgow, Lebanon and Tompkinsville. Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket and thank you for your continued support to Trooper Island.
Trooper Island was created in 1965 by the Kentucky State Police to help those who may not have otherwise had a chance to attend a summer camp. Located on Dale Hollow Lake near the Clinton-Cumberland County line, Trooper Island is a co-ed camp, with approximately 700 boys and girls ages 10 to 12, selected from across the commonwealth by Troopers attend a week long camp at no charge during the summer months. In addition to the regular camping schedule Trooper Island has conducted special camps for some of Kentucky's special needs youth. These camps have included over the past years camps for children with Congenital Heart Disease (Camp BraveHearts), PKU (Phenylketonuria), Hearing Impairment, Vision Impairments and a camp for the Hispanic children.
Trooper Island is a non-profit charitable corporation, operating solely from donation from private individuals, Corporations, Civic and Business groups, along with charitable activities held by Kentucky State Police posts across the state. Anyone that would like to make a donation can send a contribution directly to Trooper Island at Post Office Box 473, Albany, Kentucky 42602 or by contacting your local Public Affairs Officer at any of the Kentucky State Police Posts across the state.
