American Woodmark in Monticello Donates to Trooper Island

(Albany, KY) – On Monday, February 6th, Jerry Starnes with American Woodmark Corporation in Monticello, Kentucky presented Sergeant Craig Sutton, Camp Director of Trooper Island Camp a donation to assist in Safety Education at Trooper Island during the summer camp season. American Woodmark's headquarters' is located in Winchester, Virginia they have eleven manufacturing facilities in eight states along with nine builder centers across the country. American Woodmark is a kitchen and bath cabinet manufacturer.
Trooper Island was created in 1965 by the Kentucky State Police to help those who may not have otherwise had a chance to attend a summer camp. Located on Dale Hollow Lake near the Clinton-Cumberland County line, Trooper Island is a co-ed camp, with approximately 700 boys and girls ages 10 to 12, selected from across the commonwealth by Troopers to attend a weeklong camp at no charge during the summer months. Each post sends 16 boys and 16 girls to camp from all across Kentucky for eight weeks from the first of June through the first week in August.
Trooper Island is a 501c3 non-profit charitable corporation, operating solely from donations from private individuals, corporations, civic and business groups, along with charitable activities held by Kentucky State Police posts across the state. Some of the scheduled events in which funds are raised for Trooper Island are golf scrambles, motorcycle runs, fishing tournaments, and a yearly statewide raffle.
