Plaque Given to Owners of Gaddie Shamrock

(Albany, KY) - On Wednesday, May 03, 2006 Trooper Island Camp Director Trooper Craig Sutton presented Betty Jo Beard and her daughter Sandy Hockensmith owners of Gaddie Shamrock along with Paul Brown Superintendent of Gaddie Shamrock a plaque in recognition of their contribution to Trooper Island. In October of 2005 Gaddie Shamrock donated pavement to Trooper Island.

Trooper Island is a non-profit camp operated by the Kentucky State Police located on Dale Hollow Lake near the Cumberland and Clinton County line. The camp was developed by the Kentucky State Police as part of a long-range program of public service to the youth of Kentucky. The camp host over 700 hundred underprivileged boys and girls, ages 10-12, during the summer months, which may not have a chance to attend camp with no expense to the camper. Three camps for children with special needs such as PKU (phenylketonuria): an inherited disorder of body chemistry that, if untreated, can cause mental retardation; Hispanic: children of Hispanic culture; and Camp Bravehearts: children with heart complications. Trooper Island operates solely from donations and all donations are tax deductible.
