Wal-Mart In London Makes Donation To Trooper Island Camp

(London, KY) - On Friday, December 09, 2005 Kentucky State Police Trooper Craig Sutton, Camp Director of Trooper Camp on Dale Hollow Lake accepted a check for $1,000.00 from Tim Sowders, Assistant Manager of Wal-Mart store number 1113 in London. The donation will go towards helping underprivileged boys and girls attend Trooper Island Camp during the summer from the London post area.
In 1965 the Kentucky State Police developed Trooper Island on Dale Hollow Lake near the Clinton-Cumberland County line as a boys camp. Trooper Island has since been converted to a co-ed camp which currently serves approximately 700 boys and girls ages 10 to 12 selected from across the commonwealth at to attend camp at no charge during the summer months. Those children who have been chosen may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend a camp. In addition to regular camping dates there are special camps held during the summer help children with PKU (phenylketonuria), Heart Complications and a Hispanic camp. Trooper Island is a non-profit charitable corporation, which operates solely from contributions and charitable activities.
