Injury Collision on the Western Kentucky Parkway in Muhlenberg County

(Madisonville, KY) - Mrs. Rebecca Mitchell was west bound on the Western Kentucky Parkway when she attempted to overtake a vehicle that was traveling in the slow lane. As she neared the side of the slower vehicle, it began to come over into the fast lane causing Mrs. Mitchell to take evasive action. In order to avoid a collision, Mrs. Mitchell steered left and lost control of her vehicle. Her vehicle crossed the median and east bound travel lanes before it struck a ditch line that caused it to roll over an undetermined amount of times. The vehicle came to final rest in a ditch, sitting upright, on the south side of the east bound lanes. After the Graham Fire Department extricated her from the vehicle, PHI Air Medical helicopter flew Mrs. Mitchell from the scene. She was flown to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, for treatment of head trauma. The second vehicle was not located and it has been determined that there was no contact between the two vehicles.
