Governor Fletcher Names New Kentucky State Police Commissioner
Date of News Release: 07/13/2006
FRANKFORT, KY - Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed John (Jack) Adams as the new commissioner for the Kentucky State Police. Adams spent the last three years as acting director for the Kentucky Office of Insurance Fraud Division.
"Jack Adams' years of service to the Kentucky State Police are a testament to his dedication to the field of law enforcement," said Governor Fletcher. "I appreciate his willingness to accept this new challenge."
Before joining the Office of Insurance in 1995, Adams spent 22 years with the Kentucky State Police. Throughout his tenure at KSP, Adams held various positions before retiring in 1993 as Major of the Operations Division, Western Branch.
"I am honored to accept the new responsibility as the Kentucky State Police Commissioner and I look forward to serving the citizens of the commonwealth," said Adams. "I am proud to carry on the rich tradition of KSP, leading the men and women of this premier law enforcement agency."
"Jack Adams' background and experience with KSP makes him the ideal choice for this position," said Justice Cabinet Secretary General Norman E. Arflack. "Having personally worked with Jack throughout our careers at KSP, I am confident he possesses the leadership skills to continue moving KSP forward."
As acting director and Insurance Fraud Investigation Supervisor with the Kentucky Office of Insurance, Adams worked with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Anti-fraud Task Force, local and state law enforcement, the FBI and other federal investigative agencies, and special investigation units of insurance companies' reference fraud issues. He has been employed by the Kentucky Office of Insurance since 1999.
Adams replaces Mark Miller, who retired effective June 30. Adams' appointment is effective immediately.
The Kentucky State Police is the leading law enforcement agency for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. KSP promotes public safety through service, integrity and professionalism, utilizing partnerships to prevent, reduce and deter crime; enhance highway safety through education and enforcement; and safeguard property and protect individual rights.
