Kentucky State Police Trains Teens To "Drive To Stay Alive"

(Frankfort, KY)--- Thirty-three high school students from 25 schools throughout the state will be attending the fourth annual "Drive To Stay Alive" teen driver safety course sponsored by the Kentucky State Police from Sunday Sept. 24 through Wednesday Sept. 27. The course will provide hands-on training at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta.

News media are invited to visit the track on Monday Sept. 25 and Tuesday Sept. 26 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Activities scheduled at the track include backing skills, multiple turns and lane interchange training, evasive maneuver, off-road recovery, controlled braking and skid control training. Students will also use "Fatal Vision" goggles that simulate driving under the influence of alcohol.

Students participating in the course represent the following schools: Betsy Lane High School, Burgin High School, Butler County High School, Calloway County High School, Casey County High School, Dixie Heights High School, Elizabethtown High School, Eminence High School, Grant County High School, Hart County High School, Knott County Central High School, Livingston Central High School, Menifee County High School, Middlesboro High School, Paul Blazer High School (Ashland), Paris High School, Perry County Central High School, Scott County High School, Shelby County High School, Somerset Christian School, South Laurel High School, Taylor County High School, Webster County High School, West Jessamine High School and Williamstown High School.
