79th Kentucky State Police Cadet Class Begins

(FRANKFORT, KY) - Members of the 79th Kentucky State Police Cadet Class will begin their 22-week training at the State Police Academy in Frankfort, Sunday, March 3, 2002 with 77 cadet troopers reporting for duty.

Cadets are expected to arrive at 1 p.m. The media will be permitted to conduct interviews and obtain video footage with cadets during admission. However no interviews will be permitted after cadets enter the classroom. The Kentucky State Police Academy is located at 919 Versailles Road in Frankfort.

To date, there are 77 members of the Kentucky State Police Cadet Class #79. There are 70 white males, five white females, one African-American male, and one Asian male.

During their 22-weeks of training, KSP cadets learn the laws and statutes of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the history of the Kentucky State Police organization, as well as how to conduct accident and criminal investigations, drive pursuit vehicles, DUI enforcement, firearms training, first aid, and many other aspects of becoming a Kentucky State Police trooper. The cadets are expected to graduate August 2, 2002.
