LEXINGTON, Ky. (September 29, 2022) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been requested by the Lexington Police Department (LPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Sept. 28, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m. EST in Fayette County.
At the request of the LPD, the KSP Critical Incident Response Team responded to the scene, and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing. A male subject was transported to a local hospital and is in critical but stable condition. An LPD officer was transported to a local hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
KSP has statewide jurisdiction and investigates officer-involved shootings throughout the Commonwealth as requested by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. KSP is committed to being transparent while ensuring the integrity of the investigation.
