Update – (November 1, 2018) Maynard Huff, the man for whom a Golden Alert was issued Tuesday evening in Letcher County, has been safely located. Family members contacted Kentucky State Police Post 13 at around 4:30 p.m. and advised that Maynard Huff had been located on a strip mine area close to his residence in the Big Cowan community. Maynard Huff was transported to Whitesburg ARH for precautionary purposes, but was otherwise unharmed.
Hazard, Ky. (October 31, 2018) – The location of a missing Letcher County man remains unknown as first responders, search and rescue teams and law enforcement officials continue their search. Paul Miles, the Letcher County Director of Emergency Services, contacted Kentucky State Police Post 13 requesting assistance in trying to locate 58 year old Maynard Huff. Huff was last seen at a residence on Henry Ison Hollow in the Big Cowan community at around noon on October 30. A Golden Alert was issued for Maynard Huff at 8:36 p.m. last night.
Maynard Huff is a white male who is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs around 190 pounds. He has black and gray hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue flannel shirt with camouflage undershirt, dark blue jeans and brown slip on boots. Maynard Huff has medical difficulties and is non-verbal. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Maynard Huff is urged to contact Kentucky State Police Post 13 at 606-435-6069.
