Detective Josh Huff with KSP Post 13 is leading this investigation.

Hazard, Ky. (December 25, 2018) – Detectives with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard are investigating the death of a woman who was found unresponsive in a field in Perry County.  Perry County Sheriff’s Office personnel were the first to get the call and respond to the scene, which was grassy field off of Highway 476 near the Bulan Post Office.  The female was transported by Perry County Ambulance to Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased by Deputy Coroner John Collett with the Perry County Coroner’s Office.

KSP Posts 13 was contacted by Perry 911 and the Perry County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the investigation.  The deceased was identified as 30 year old April N. Higgins of Sassafras in Knott County.  An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.  No further details are available at this time.  Detective Josh Huff with KSP Post 13 is leading this investigation.
